100 Years of Stafford Beer: Cybernetics and the Future of Organizations
Sven-Volker Rehm • September 24, 2026
Together with colleagues from the University of Stuttgart and the Society for Managerial and Social Cybernetics (GWS), I helped organize a symposium marking the centenary of Stafford Beer. The event explored the continuing relevance of management cybernetics for organizational viability, governance, and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and increasing complexity.

The inaugural issue of Collective Intelligence Perspectives has been published, establishing a new transdisciplinary forum for exploring collective intelligence from systemic, cybernetic, organizational, technological, and societal perspectives. The issue also includes my Editorial and an essay on communicative–inferential coordination across collective systems. Explore the inaugural issue

Editorial work is progressing on the Springer Nature Handbook of Hybrid Intelligence , which I am co-editing with an international team of scholars. The Handbook brings together theoretical, methodological, and applied perspectives on the interaction and integration of human and artificial intelligence, with contributions spanning organizational, technological, and societal contexts.

I'm thrilled to announce my collaboration with Hybrid Intelligence World (HIW) , a pioneering on-demand platform at the forefront of integrating science, education, and technology. This exciting venture is part of my ongoing commitment to academic and research pursuits within some of the most cutting-edge domains.
